RGIII Trade Rumors, Cubs’ No Hitter, Japan Wins Little League World Series

FOOTBALL

Robert Griffin IIIIn the NFL, after yet another injury-riddled, disappointing pre-season, Robert Griffin III’s time in Washington may be over.  Griffin had one last chance to convince head coach Jay Gruden he was ready for the QB job, but after another concussion, it looks like Washington may have given up. Rumors over the weekend had Griffin in trade talks but apparently no teams were interested.

Chicago CubsThe Chicago Cubs had something to root for this weekend.  Their pitcher, Jake Arrieta, threw a no-hitter; the first no-hitter in the Cubs organization since Carlos Zambrano threw one in 2008.  The Cubs are still on the outside looking in for the playoffs this year, but they clearly have a star in Arrieta going forward.  Chicago 2, Los Angeles 0.
Finally, this weekend was the championship round of the Little League World Series.  It all came down to the United States and Japan.  Japan was far too dominant for the US (represented by Pennsylvania). The US put up a good fight, but Japan was destined to win this one, and gained victory by the large margin of 18-11.  Congratulations to Japan on their big win.
