Celtics Vs Warriors In NBA Finals, Kaepernick Works Out For Raiders

BASKETBALL

The Boston Celtics will take on the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. The Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, needed 7 games to beat Miami in the Eastern Conference finals and head to San Francisco for Game 1 Thursday night. The Warriors, led by veterans Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, should be nice and rested after eliminating Dallas in five games in the Western Conference finals.

FOOTBALL

Colin Kaepernick worked out with the Las Vegas Raiders last week and could end up signing with the team as a backup quarterback. At 34 years old, Kaepernick (who became famous for protesting police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem) hasn’t played in a game since January 1st, 2017. According to Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer, “I’d say the door is being left open for a deal, but it probably won’t happen right now. The workout itself went well. He didn’t blow everyone away or anything like that. But he showed he was in shape, and that his arm strength is still intact, even at 34 years old and after five seasons out of the league.”

Celtics Even Series, Mavs Avoid Sweep, Elite Women’s Hockey League

BASKETBALL

Thanks to Jayson Tatum, the Boston Celtics jumped to a huge early lead and finished strong to even the series 2-2. Game 5 is Wednesday night. Boston 102, Miami 82

The Mavericks avoided an embarrassing sweep and pulled out a win Tuesday night against the Golden State Warriors. Luka Doncic scored 30 points in the 119-109 game where halftime was extended 30 minutes due to a roof leak in the American Airlines Center. Warriors are now up 3-1 and head home for Game 5.  If by a miracle Dallas came back to win the series they would make history, as no NBA team has ever come back from 0-3 and moved on.

HOCKEY

The Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association, founded in May of 2019, signed a letter of intent with The Walter Group and BJK Enterprises (run by Billy Jean King and Ilana Kloss) to create a “professional league for elite women’s hockey players”.

BASKETBALL

With Steph Curry contributing 31 points and Andrew Wiggins posting 27, the Golden State Warriors beat the Dallas Mavericks to take a 3-0 series lead. Golden State 109, Dallas 100

University of Michigan coach Juwan Howard declined an “expected” offer to interview for the LA Lakers head coaching position. He has elected to stay at Michigan to coach his two sons, Jace (junior) and Jett (freshman).

FOOTBALL

Alabama coach Nick Saban and Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher have been trading barbs after Saban publicly accused Fisher of “buying” every player in his #1 ranked 2022 recruiting class. Fisher fought back saying it’s insulting to the players to assume they chose A&M because of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) rules. Fisher also criticized his former boss (Saban) saying, “Some people think they’re God. Go dig into how ‘God’ did his deal, you may find out about a lot of things that you don’t want to know.”

Heat/Warriors Win Game 1, Curry Graduates Davidson, Women’s Soccer Achieves Equality

BASKETBALL

Thanks to Jimmy Butler’s 41 points, the Miami Heat turned around a bad first half to grab a decisive game 1 over the Boston Celtics. Miami 118, Celtics 107

In game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, Steph Curry posted 21 points and 12 rebounds to help the Golden State Warriors beat the Dallas Mavericks 112-87.

Speaking of Curry, the NBA superstar graduated from Davidson College last week. When Curry turned pro in 2009 (after his sophomore season at Davidson), he promised his parents he’d return to graduate. Curry didn’t attend the commencement, but his name was in the program, and now the school can officially retire his jersey (they won’t retire jerseys of players unless they’ve graduated).

The Orlando Magic will get the first pick in the NBA draft, followed by Oklahoma City, Houston, and Sacramento.

SOCCER

After many years of pushing for equal salaries and bonuses, U.S. Women’s soccer has finally achieved its goal, and the new collective bargaining agreements will put the Women’s and Men’s teams on equal footing.

ESPN’s Stephen A Smith has never been shy about expressing his opinion, but when he criticized the Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker for his performance in their Game 7 loss, he tagged the wrong Devin Booker on Twitter. The Booker he tagged plays basketball in Turkey and had a great response. Click here.

FOOTBALL

Thanks to the stellar play of Devin Booker and Chris Paul, the Phoenix Suns blew out the Dallas Mavericks to take a 2-0 lead.
