Recap of wildcard weekend games:
Saturday:
QB C.J. Stroud (2nd pick in 2023 draft) continued his incredible rookie season leading the Houston Texans to a huge win over the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. Texans 47, Browns 14
If you weren’t watching from either Kansas City or Miami on Saturday night, you had to pay a subscription fee to Peacock to stream the Kansas City chiefs defeat the Miami Dolphins. And, people didn’t seem to mind as an average of 23 million viewers tuned in watch Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes thrive over Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa in the frigid conditions. KC 26, Miami 7.
The Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams matchup had all the drama. To recap: In 2021, the Rams traded QB Jared Goff to the Lions for the Lion’s QB Matthew Stafford. Saturday night, it was Goff who took the Lions to their first playoff win in 32 years. Lions 24, Rams 23
The Green Bay Packers got out to a 27-0 lead early in the game, and even though the Cowboys scored a few times, Dallas easily prevailed with a 48-32 win. After this disappointing loss at home, and no NFC Championships since 1995, coach Mike McCarthy might be gone soon.
QB Baker Mayfield led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to an easy win over the Philadelphia Eagles 32-9,
The Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers battled the elements (in a game delayed by a day due to weather). The Bills surged to an early lead, Pittsburgh pulled within a touchdown only to have QB Josh Allen lead the Bills to a strong finish and a 31-17 win.
