Thanks in part to backup quarterback Drew Lock (who was given the starting job just minutes before the game), the Seattle Seahawks upset the Philadelphia Eagles 20-17 on Monday Night Football. Lock threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with only 28 seconds left to play.

Draymond Green Suspended Indefinitely, Herbert Out For Season, Embarrassing Loss For Chargers, Mahomes/Prescott/Purdy MVP?, Jerry Rice, Frank Gore & Marvin Harrison’s Sons, Gore Gets College Degree

BASKETBALL

The NBA suspended the Golden State Warriors Draymond Green indefinitiely after he hit the Suns’ Jusuf Nurkić, his third ejection of the season (and 19th over his career).  Green’s agent and the Warriors General Manager will meet to discuss counseling in order for him to meet the conditions to return to the court.

FOOTBALL

L.A. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert fractured his right finger and is out for the rest of the season. And, after the Chargers disastrous outing on Thursday Night Football against the Raiders (a embarrassing score of 63-21), the Chargers season is over.

Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs), Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys), and Brock Purdy (SF 49ers) are all in the running for NFL MVP.

Hall of Fame receiver and three-time Super Bowl winner Jerry Rice’s son, Brenden, has  declared for the 2024 draft. The wide receiver came to USC after two seasons at Colorado and had a career hight 791 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.

Another superstar 49er Frank Gore will watch his son Frank Gore Jr. (running back from Southern Mississippi) enter the 2024 draft. Frank Sr. has also been busy completing his college degree from the University of Miami (which he attended from 2001-2004).

NFL star Marvin Harrison’s son, Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr, is also considering declaring for the draft.

Titans Improbable Win Over Dolphins, Giants Beat Packers, Niners Clinch Playoff Spot

FOOTBALL

The Tennessee Titans win probability was just 0.4% with 3:08 minutes left in the game and trailing the Miami Dolphins 27-13. The Titans were not deterred, however, and delivered a historic comeback to win 28-27. According to Next Gen Stats, the win marks the 2nd-most “statistically improbable comeback in the NGS era.”

After the New York Giants beat the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, the San Francisco 49ers became the first team this season to clinch a playoff spot. This is the Niners third straight season making the playoffs.

Jaguar Employee Stole Over $22 Mill, Jets Return To Zach Wilson, DeSantis Asks For $1 Mill To Sue CFP Committee, Juan Soto A Yankee

FOOTBALL

This is a wild story.  A former Jacksonville Jaguar employee has been accused of stealing upwards of $22 million from the team over a five year period. Amit Patel allegedly used the organization’s virtual credit card to buy a condo in Ponte Vedra, two vehicles, a $95K watch, private jets, vacations, cryptocurrency and NFT’s.

The New York Jets are returning to former #2 overall pick Zach Wilson as their quarterback for the remaining games in the regular season. The Jets can’t seem to get this position right. After acquiriing superstar Aaron Rodgers in an off-season trade with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers suffered an ankle injury in the first few minutes of the opening game.  Wilson took over, but then after a disappointing run, the Jets gave the signal calling to Tim Boyle, who did not impress. Now, the Jets are turning back to Wilson.

Fans of Florida State football are still bitter about being overlooked by the College Football Playoff committee. Governor Ron DeSantis is now asking for $1 million from the state budget to allow Florida State to sue the CFP committee.

BASEBALL

Superstar outfielder Juan Soto has been traded from the San Diego Padres to the New York Yankees.

Michigan, Washington, Texas, Alabama In Semis, Undefeated FSU Left Out, Iowa Bar’s Promotion, 49ers, Packers Big Wins

FOOTBALL

The College Football Playoffs are set. Unsurprisingly Michigan (undefeated in the Big Ten) grabbed the #1 seed, while an undefeated Washington came in at #2. The controversy came at spots #3 and #4. Both Texas and Alabama had a loss this season, but that didn’t stop the committee from giving Texas the #3 spot and Alabama (who beat top-ranked Georgia on Saturday) #4. Many felt Florida State got snubbed, but the committee reasoned that FSU’s quarterback Jordan Travis was injured and, even though the team won without him, Alabama was a stronger choice. FSU head coach Mike Norvell shared his reaction saying he was “disgusted and infuriated” that a “small group of people decided they knew better than the results of the games.” He called the decision a “sad day for college football.” Florida State has the distinction of being the first unbeaten team in the Power Five left out of the semifinals.

Michigan handily won their Big 10 Championship game on Saturday against Iowa, but one bar in Iowa clearly thought the score would be a bit closer. X-Golf’s promotion “Pour Until Iowa Scores” had to pay for an estimated 100-200 free beers when Iowa failed to put up any points in the Wolverines 26-0 win.

In the NFL, there were some notable games:

The San Francisco 49ers easily beat the Philadelphia Eagles (now 10-2) 42-19. Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love helped his team beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-19 (who had previously not lost while Taylor Swift was in the stadium, which she was on Sunday night).

Dak Prescott Wows On TNF, Aaron Rodgers Returns, Harbaugh To NFL?

FOOTBALL

Quarterback Dak Prescott impressed in a 41-35 Dallas Cowboys win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night football. The Cowboys are on fire right now, averaging 42 points per game over the last four.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers returned to practice after recovering from a torn Achilles. According to reports, though, he won’t be ready to take the field until week 16.

Jim Harbaugh is back in the news this week but not for the sign-stealing scandal. Reports are circulating that at least two NFL teams, the Chicago Bears and the Carolina Panthers, have an interest in speaking with the Michigan head coach.
