Aaron Rodgers Broke Collarbone, Kaepernick Sues NFL, Chiefs Lose, Giants Win, ALCS/NLCS Update

FOOTBALL

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone in a game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. He could be out the rest of the season, which is tough for the team as their backup Brett Hundley might not be ready for prime time. Hundley threw three interceptions after he came in to relieve Rogers in the 23-10 loss.

The natural question for the Packers is whether the team will try and bring in another QB for the remainder of the season. Many wonder if Colin Kaepernick will get the call, but that seems highly unlikely now that Kaepernick is suing the NFL for collusion. His lawyer sent out a statement saying, “If the NFL (as well as all professional sports teams) is to remain a meritocracy, then principled and peaceful protest — which the owners themselves made great theater imitating weeks ago — should not be punished and athletes should not be denied employment based on partisan political provocation by the Executive Branch of our government. Such a precedent threatens all patriotic Americans and harkens back to our darkest days as a nation. Protecting all athletes from such collusive conduct is what compelled Mr. Kaepernick to file his grievance.”

The last unbeaten team in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs went down against the Pittsburgh Steelers 19-13. And, the New York Giants are no longer empty in the win column after their decisive win over the Denver Broncos 23-10.
