Trubisky Makes NFL Debut In Bears Loss, Jemele Hill Suspended

The #2 pick in the NFL draft, Mitchell Trubisky, made his NFL debut on Monday night as quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Even though he threw a costly interception in the final few minutes of the 4th quarter against the Minnesota Vikings, Trubisky showed the fans he could be their franchise quarterback. According to the Bears’ coach John Fox, “He’s got what it takes. There’s no doubt in my mind.” Vikings 20, Bears 17.
ESPN’s Jemele Hill violated the company’s social media policy for the second time in two weeks. Her first violation was a tweet in which she called President Trump a “white supremacist”. After her social media post, Hill apologized and claimed she had no intention of bringing negative press to the network. She wrote, “Because fair or not, people can’t or won’t separate who I am on Twitter from the person who co-hosts the 6 p.m. SportsCenter. Twitter also isn’t a great place to have nuanced, complicated discussions, especially when it involves race. Warriors player Kevin Durant and I probably need to take some classes about how to exercise better self-control on Twitter. Lesson learned.” Clearly lesson not learned as she recently tweeted, “Jerry Jones also has created a problem for his players, specifically the black ones. If they don’t kneel, some will see them as sellouts.” She also tweeted that advertisers should reject Jerry Jones policy. ESPN announced they were putting Hill on a two week suspension for violating the company’s social media guidelines.
