Yankees Advance To ALCS, Strasburg Pitches Brilliantly To Force Game 5

BASEBALL

Yankees come back from an 0-2 deficit in the best of five American League Division Series to beat the Cleveland Indians. The Yankees will now face the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series. The hero of the night was Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius who hit two home runs in the 5-2 win. Gregorius had big shoes to fill as the replacement for the legendary Derek Jeter.

After enduring a day of criticism for announcing he wasn’t well enough to pitch on Wednesday, the Washington Nationals Stephen Strasburg had a change of heart, called his coaches Wednesday morning and begged them to let him take the mound against the Chicago Cubs. According to pitching coach, Mike Maddux, “He had the eye of the tiger. He didn’t ask for the ball. He demanded it. We looked at him, and said, ‘OK. You got it. You got it.’’’ Strasburg didn’t disappoint. He took the mound and pitched 7 shutout innings and struck out 12 batters for a 5-0 win forcing a game 5 Thursday night.
