A-Rod Celebrates Bday With Homerun, LA May Bid For Olympics, Cardinals Hire First Female Football Coach

BASEBALL

A-RodAlex Rodriguez is making headlines again.  This time, though, it’s nothing negative.  A-Rod had his 40th birthday, and in A-Rod fashion of course, he blasted a home run to celebrate.  It’s amazing that, at 40, A-Rod is still a pretty big factor for the Yankees success this season. Critics are hoping that A-Rod keeps his name clean with no upcoming headlines that he is “juicing” (i.e. using performance enhancing drugs) again.  But, until that happens, A-Rod is enjoying an exciting twilight to his career.   NY Yankees 6, Texas 2.

OLYMPICS

There has been talk of Boston making a run to secure the 2024 Olympics.  Apparently, the Boston public isn’t too happy as they don’t want their tax dollars used to pay for the stadiums and other infrastructure necessary to host an Olympics.  Plus, the Olympic committee was getting tired of Boston changing their blueprint plans.  With that said, it looks like LA might now be making a bid for the Olympics.

FOOTBALL

The Arizona Cardinals made history by hiring the first ever female coach to their coaching staff.  Jen Welter will be joining the squad as an assistant coach for the inside linebackers this summer.  Head coach Bruce Arians said she will make a wonderful addition to the staff. First you had a female head coach guiding the San Antonio Spurs to a summer league championship, and now you have a talented female coach in the NFL.  The future of women in sports looks very bright.
