Jordan Speith launched a major comeback in Sunday’s 3rd round of The Open in Scotland but he was one stroke shy of making it to the bonus hole 3-man playoff.  In the end, America’s Zach Johnson prevailed and took home the trophy.

BASKETBALL

In the NBA, some groundbreaking news.  The San Antonio Spurs hired a woman, Becky Hammon, as their summer league head coach.  She was the first woman to coach a game in the NBA and she certainly made a splash by taking the Spurs to the summer league championship and winning the whole tournament. Other NBA teams are definitely taking notice of her ability.  We may see a female head coach in the NBA sooner than we thought.

Also in the NBA, some bad news for the Philadelphia 76ers.  Last years #3 overall pick, Joel Embiid, out of Kansas,  came into the NBA with high expectations.  He was considered a can’t miss prospect.  Unfortunately, Embiid suffered an injury that kept him out all season and now, it’s reported that Embiid re-broke the same bone in his foot, and will be forced to sit out yet another entire season.
