76ers & Trail Blazers Force Game 7, Durant Out, Kim Jong Un Requests Famous Basketball Players

BASKETBALL

After a disappointing game 5 loss, the Philadelphia 76ers came out strong and never looked back, forcing a game 7 against the Toronto Raptors in the East Semifinals. Jimmy Butler (nicknamed Jimmy Buckets) and Ben Simmons led the Sixers, scoring 25 points and 21 points respectively. Philadelphia 112, Toronto 101

The Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets will face off in a decisive Game 7 West Semifinal thanks to a big third quarter from Damian Lillard, who scored 17 points in the third quarter (32 overall) in the 119-108 Trail Blazer win. Game 6 was not without some drama when the Blazers’ Seth Curry and Denver’s Will Barton shoved each other. Barton then looked as if he poked Curry in the eye, and a full scuffle broke out where four players received technical fouls.

The Golden State Warriors will try and close out their Western Conference Semifinal on Friday night against the Houston Rockets but will have to do so without their leading scorer, Kevin Durant. An MRI confirmed Durant has a strained right calf and will be out all week. The Warriors lead the series 3-2.

It’s been reported that North Korea’s Kim Jong Un made a request for the US to send over “famous basketball players” to help normalize relations with the country. North Korea made the request ahead of the second summit between President Trump and North Korea’s dictator earlier this year. Kim is known to be an enthusiastic basketball fan and has developed a relationship with former player Dennis Rodman.
