Westbrook Triple Double History, Warriors Comeback Win, Venus Defeats #1, NC Bathroom Law

BASKETBALL

Russell Westbrook continues to make history. Recording his 38th triple double Wednesday night, he topped James Harden and Wilt Chamberlain with a triple double score that included a whopping 57 points. Westbrook helped his Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Orlando Magic in overtime 114-106.

After suffering losses to the San Antonio Spurs this season, and trailing by 22 points early in the game, the Golden State Warriors came back strong to record an impressive win.  The Splash brothers (Steph Curry and Klay Thompson) led the team with 29 and 23 points respectively to close out a 110-98 win.

TENNIS

At 36 years old, Venus Williams became the oldest women to defeat a #1 ranked player when she beat Angelique Kerber in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open.

The NCAA is supposed to decide today whether North Carolina is eligible to host NCAA events in 2018-2022. North Carolina Lawmakers proposed a change Wednesday night to the controversial HB2 “bathroom bill”. The NCAA moved the 2017 All Star Game from Charlotte, NC  to New Orleans due to what they felt was a discriminatory law. It’s not yet clear if the LGBTQ community accepts the compromise, and if the NCAA thinks the new bill goes far enough to warrant re-instating NCAA events.
