Magic Johnson Lakers New President, Baseball HOF Honors Simpsons

BASKETBALL

Hall of Famer and basketball royalty, Magic Johnson announced he is the LA Lakers new President of basketball operations. Magic won championships for the Lakers in the ’80’s, served as their head coach in 1994 and even part owner for a few years after that. Johnson is known for his business acumen and will bring his expertise to try and turn around a struggling franchise. Magic didn’t waste any time in his new job. Hours after accepting his new position he traded Lakers’ Guard Lou Williams to the Houston Rockets for their 2017 first round pick and Forward Corey Brewer.

BASEBALL

On May 27th, the Baseball Hall of Fame will honor the 25th anniversary of the Simpsons’  “Homer at the Bat” episode where Mr. Burns stacked his power plant team with major league players in order to win a bet. Among the greats lending their voice to this classic episode were: Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Ken Griffey Jr., Jose Canseco, Ozzie Smith and Don Mattingly.  The producers and directors of the episode will be joined by Boggs and Smith for a panel discussion at the Hall on the 27th.
