Blitz For Six, Draymond & Curry Wear Cupcakes, Sprewell Sits Next To Dolan

FOOTBALL

The Super Bowl champion New England Patriots are certainly not sitting on their laurels with an amazing 5 Super Bowl wins. Just days after taking home the Vince Lombardi Trophy, the Pats filed a trademark application for the phrase “Blitz for Six”. Got to appreciate their confidence.

BASKETBALL

Golden State Warrior, Kevin Durant knew what he would get some heat Saturday night when he returned to Oklahoma City to play his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Not only did Durant put up solid numbers in a decisive 130-114 win, but he and his teammates embraced the taunting. Steph Curry and Draymond Green grabbed a couple of the  “Cupcake” tshirts, distributed at the game and did their postgame interviews proudly wearing them. In case it’s not clear, the “cupcake” reference is supposed to imply Durant is “soft”.

The New York Knicks are trying to deflect their bad press (when they recently ousted Charles Oakley) and attempted to show they appreciate their players, by inviting a number of former Knicks to attend the matchup against the San Antonia Spurs Sunday night. Most notable was former Knick Latrell Sprewell, who sat next to team owner James Dolan. When Sprewell first appeared back at Madison Square Garden in 2003, after his trade to the Timberwolves, he shouted at Dolan resulting in a 25K fine. It’s not clear if inviting the former players Sunday night helped the Knicks image, but at least they had a good night of basketball beating the Spurs 94-90.
