Splash Brothers Bail Out Warriors, Trump’s Threatening Tweet Agst Cubs Owner, NFL Combine

NBA

It was a game dominated by the Miami Heat much, but “Splash Brothers” Steph Curry and Klay Thompson bailed out the Golden State Warriors yet again; not the kind of bail where you look for bail bondsmen in New Britain. But it was bailing out on the team which you can learn more about it here. Curry had 42 points, Thompson 33. The 3-pointer Curry squeaked past the NBA’s leading shot-blocker in the final 38 seconds ultimately clenched the game for the Warriors. Curry has now scored a 3-pointer in his 127th consecutive game tying the NBA record set by the Atlanta Hawks’ Kyle Korver in 2014. Curry will have his chance to break that record Tuesday against the Orlando Magic. Warriors 118, Heat 112.

Donald TrumpLeading Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump called out the owners of the Chicago Cubs for spending money against his campaign. In a weirdly ominous tweet on Monday, the billionaire said “I hear the Rickets family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending $’s against me. They better be careful, they have a lot to hide!”  On Wednesday, co-owner Tom Rickets responded, “It’s a little surreal when Donald Trump threatens your mom.” He defended his family’s political spending and denied having anything to hide, saying, “we’re pretty much an open book. We stand up for what we believe in.”

NFL

The NFL Scouting Combine has started and will continue all week. The Combine is a showcase held every year at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where college football players “try out” for various NFL teams. They perform physical and mental tests for the coaches and scouts. Players are invited by invitation only and are often the best athletes in the league. Strength, speed and agility are more important than win-loss records. It’s an important week for the aspiring professional athletes. Their performance at the combine will influence their draft position come April, which has a direct effect on how much money they’ll make.
