Warriors Win Again, Karl Working For His $10Mill, Knicks Lose Again

BASKETBALL

Andre IguodalaThe Golden State Warriors had another great game against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. The Rockets refused to lie down, making Steph Curry and company fight for every point in the relatively close victory. Curry finished the game with 35 points, nine assists and six rebounds. By the start of the third quarter, the Warriors and Rockets were tied at 93, but that all changed with two consecutive 3-pointers from Andre Iguodala and Harrison Barnes. This was the 42nd straight home game victory for the Warriors, putting them on track to tie or surpass the home winning streak record set by the ’95-96 Chicago Bulls. The Warriors are 47-4 this season. Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are all set to play in the All Star Game this Sunday. But first, the Warriors head to Phoenix to take on the Suns. Phoenix has a dismal 14-39 record on the season. Warriors 123, Rockets 110

It seems that the Sacramento Kings have decided not to fire coach George Karl after all. The reversal followed a meeting where Karl promised his employers he would make a number of changes to address issues he’s had with both players and the front office. The reversal might be beneficial for the Kings, seeing as Karl still has $10 million guaranteed on his original contract. If you’re going to pay someone that much money, you might as well make them work for it.

The coaching changes in New York, meanwhile, didn’t seem to do much good for the Knicks in their matchup against the Washington Wizards. Coach Derek Fisher was fired Monday in an attempt to get the Knicks out of their rut (1-9 in their last 10). But even with interim head coach Kurt Rambis at the helm, the Knicks couldn’t walk away with a win.
