Playoff Teams Set College Championship, Pats Lose, Panthers Still Unbeaten, Warriors Streak Continues

FOOTBALL

Over the weekend, the college football selection committee designated the final four teams for the College Football Championship on New Years Eve. Clemson vs. Oklahoma and Alabama vs. Michigan State will compete to play in the Championship game on January 11th. In only the second year of the College football playoff system, there seems to be general consensus that these four teams were the most deserving based on the strength of their schedule and games won.

In a major upset this weekend, the mighty New York Patriots fell for the second week in a row. The Philadelphia Eagles came from a 14 point deficit to score 35 points and a big win. Eagles 35, Eagles 28.

The Carolina Panthers continued their perfect streak with another win in a high scoring game against the New Orleans Saints. The game was sloppy but Panther’s QB Cam Newton rose to the occasion by throwing for 331 yards and 5 TD’s. Panthers 41, Saints 38.

BASKETBALL

WarriorsSpeaking of perfect streaks, the mesmerizing Golden State Warriors continue to win. They recorded their 21st and 22nd straight win this weekend. On Sunday night against the Brooklyn Nets, Steph Curry had a slow start and the Warriors fell behind in the beginning of the 3rd quarter, but in typical Warriors’ fashion,  Steph Curry and the Team went on a roll. Curry scored 16 of his 28 points in the 3rd quarter energizing the team to a dominating finish. In explaining his resurgence, Curry said, “Just trying to see if I could get some room and figure out a way to impact the game, and things started to click.” And click they did with a solid finish. Warriors 114, Nets 98.
