Ramsey In Armored Truck, Byard Highest Paid Safety, Julio Jones Contract

FOOTBALL

NFL training camps begin this week, but some players are still waiting to hear about their contracts. The Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey made his complaint very public when he had TV crews film his arrival to training camp in an armored truck.  Before Ramsey exited the truck, the driver introduced Ramsey shouting, “You know what time it is. This man covers so good, he better have his own cell phone service. … The man, the myth, Jalen Ramsey! It’s time to get this money.”

One player who is not complaining is the Tennessee Titans’ Kevin Byard. Byard agreed to a five-year, $70.5 million contract extension making him the highest-paid safety in NFL history!

Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones is waiting for the team to offer him a contract consistent with his production. He’s led the league in receptions and is a six-time Pro Bowler, but his outdated salary ranks him 15th among receivers. In his current contract, Jones will make $9.6 million compared to Cleveland Browns’ Odell Beckham Jr’s base salary of $16,750,000. Jones explained he’s not concerned about making more than Odell. He said, “I want to be the best teammate I can possibly be no matter where I’m at and the type of person that when you see me you say, ‘I enjoyed playing with that guy. I had a great time with that person. More than all this other stuff that everybody gets all caught up in. Contract talk, things like this — I just love the game of football in general.”
