Rapinoe Scores To Beat France In Quarterfinals, NBA Free Agency, Big News For Nets And 76ers

Thanks to Megan Rapinoe, the U.S. beat France in the much-watched quarterfinal of the Women’s World Cup on Friday. Rapinoe scored both goals in the 2-1 victory. The U.S. will play England on Tuesday, July 2nd in the semifinals while Sweden will take on the Netherlands on July 3rd. The Finals will take place on July 7th.

BASKETBALL

NBA Free-agency officially began Sunday night at 6:00 pm, and there’s already some big news. The Brooklyn Nets made a splash by making a deal worth more than $2 billion dollars to sign Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

TheWarriors lost Durant, but plan to sign a four-year $117 million deal with the Nets for D’Angelo Russell. In order to make this deal work, the Warriors need to trade Andre Iguodala and their 2024 first round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Warriors also plan to re-sign the injured Klay Thompson to a five-year $189 million deal to stay with Golden State.

In other big news, the Philadelphia 76ers signed Al Horford from their rival the Boston Celtics for a 4-year $109 million deal. The Sixers also finalized a sign and trade deal sending Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat. To round out the night, the Sixers plan to re-sign Tobias Harris for a five-year $180 million deal.
