Kaepernick Replaces Gabbert, Auston Matthews Historic Debut, Do-Or-Die NLDS Game
FOOTBALL
SF 49ers Coach Chip Kelly announced QB Colin Kaepernick will replace Blaine Gabbert. The 49ers are 1-4 and desperately need help to salvage their season. In 2012 Kaepernick helped the Niners get to the Super Bowl, but his career has slid since then. Kaep has also signed a restructured deal with the 49ers shifting from a 4 year contract to a 2 year deal. Kaep can void the last year of the deal after March if he chooses.
HOCKEY
The first pick in this year’s NHL draft, Auston Matthews, made an historic debut against the Ottawa Senators. The Toronto Maple Leafs new star scored 4 goals in his first game, an NHL record since 1917 according to ESPN stats. Even with his amazing game, the Maple Leafs ultimately lost in overtime to the Senators. 5-4.
BASEBALL
The Washington Nationals and the LA Dodgers play a do or die game 5 Thursday night to determine the winner of the National League Division Series. The winner will take on the Chicago Cubs on Saturday in the first game of the National League Championship.
