Warriors Win 45th Home Game, Cavs Lose To Grizzlies, DeMarco Murray To Titans, Erin Andrews Awarded $55 Mill

NBA

The Golden State Warriors followed up their historic loss to the Lakers with a record-breaking win against the Orlando Magic. The win is their 45th consecutive home win. The previous record was 44, held by—you guessed it—the ’96 Chicago Bulls. The game was a close one, with the Warriors overcoming 24 turnovers, thanks in no small part to Steph Curry, who had an incredible night. He scored 41 points, including his 300th 3-pointer for the season, yet another NBA record for the reigning MVP. Warriors 119, Magic 113

The Memphis Grizzlies prevailed against the Cleveland Cavaliers in what should have been a blowout going the other way. Cleveland had Sunday off, all their top players in rotation, and home court advantage. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, spent Sunday losing to the Phoenix Suns, one of the worst teams in the NBA, missing four of their top players, and playing on the road with only 8 players in uniform. But they seemed to have little trouble overcoming the Cavaliers. After the game, LeBron James lamented, “I can sit up here and say that we’re a team that’s ready to start the playoffs tomorrow, but we’re not… We still have things happen on the court that just… shouldn’t happen.” I’m sure the Cleveland fans in attendance would agree. Grizzlies 106, Cavaliers 103

The Philadelphia Eagles are doing everything they can to forget about former head coach Chip Kelly. They have agreed to trade running back DeMarco Murray to the Tennessee Titans. Murray, along with several other players they’ve traded since Kelly’s firing, were acquisitions of the head coach during his two year stint with the Eagles. Murray had a blockbuster year with the Dallas Cowboys before being traded to Philadelphia in 2015, where he floundered. On multiple occasions, the running back expressed concern that he wasn’t properly utilized. He personally picked the Titans as his destination-of-choice. The Titans have a chance to have a renaissance in the coming years. They have a new coach, eight draft picks, including the No. 1 pick, and now, a very talented veteran running back. Either way, they can’t do much worse than their 2015 season. The team won just three games.
