Carson Palmer Cries After Torn ACL, LeBron Helps Cavs With Win

FOOTBALL

Carson PalmerThe Arizona Cardinals are one of the most exciting teams in the NFL right now.  Their head coach, Bruce Arians, has them playing solid, mistake-free football.  They have a tenacious defense, and an offense led by the resurgent Carson Palmer.  Sadly, just one day after the Cardinals gave Carson Palmer a $50 million extension, Palmer went down for the season with a torn ACL.

Palmer said he cried that night, saying it was the first time he cried since his friend and Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry died roughly a decade ago.  This doesn’t mean, however, that the Cardinals season is over, as Coach Arians said that the Cardinals can absolutely win a Super Bowl with their back-up Drew Stanton.   Their defense can keep the games to a low-scoring affair, and as long as Stanton can be a game manager, the Cards should be ok.  But the Palmer injury is still a huge blow to their season.

BASKETBALL

And in the NBA, when the Cavs went 1-3 to start the season, everyone was hitting the panic button.  But the Cavs are just getting started, and they still need to create a team chemistry.  Monday night, the Cavs struggled against the New Orleans Hornets, but thanks to a triple-double from LeBron, the Cavs were able to grab the win.  A good outcome, but the team cannot completely lean on James to win all their games.  It won’t last.  Cleveland 118, New Orleans 111.
Finally, in baseball, the awards are starting to come out.  For Rookie of the Year in the American League:  Jose Abreu of the Chicago White Sox.  And it was unanimous, and the White Sox have found themselves a true slugger.  In the National League, it was Mets right-handed pitcher Jacob deGrom.   Baseball is becoming stalked with fun-to-watch talent yet again.
