Brady Vs Mahomes In Super Bowl LV, Haskins Signs W/Steelers, Lions Release Stafford, Eagles Sign Sirianni As Head Coach

FOOTBALL

In the first playoff matchup on Sunday, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers battled it out in a close game. Even though Brady threw for three interceptions, he also threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns to pull out a Tampa Bay win over the Green Bay Packers, 31-26. Brady advanced to his 10th Super Bowl appearance, twice as many as Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway (Denver Broncos). If anyone doubts that Brady is a good luck charm, just consider that since he signed with the Bucs, the Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have all made it to their respective championships.

In the second playoff game of the night, the Kansas City Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, overpowered the Buffalo Bills 38-24. Mahomes looked dominant throwing for 325 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately, however, Mahomes blindside protector, offensive tackle Eric Fisher, suffered an Achilles injury and will be sidelined for the Championship game.

Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes‘ February 7th Super Bowl showdown will be exciting. They’ve met four times in close games with each winning twice.

In other NFL news, quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who was recently released from Washington, signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. And, the Detroit Lions have released quarterback Matthew Stafford. No word yet on which team will pick him up.

The Philadelphia Eagles hired Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as their new head coach.
