Bills Vs Kansas City & Packers Vs Buccaneers In AFC/NFC Championships, Jets Hire Saleh, Mets Fire GM

FOOTBALL

The AFC/NFC Championship games are set. The Buffalo Bills defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-3 thanks in part to the momentum from cornerback Taron Johnson’s 101-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter. With the win, the Bills advance to the AFC Championship game for the first time since the 1993 season.

The Bills will face the Kansas City Chiefs who defeated the Cleveland Browns in a game that came down to the last minute. When KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes went down with a concussion in the third quarter, fans were worried, but backup QB Chad Henne held his own to give the team a 22-17 victory.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked spectacular in the Green Bay Packers 32-18 win over the Los Angeles Rams and will matchup against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next weekend. Tampa Bay’s defense overpowered New Orlean Saints quarterback Drew Brees and forced three interceptions on what will likely be the future hall of famer’s last game of his career. In a video that went viral, Brees’s son Baylen, came up to Brady after the game to toss a football.  Brady threw him the ball which he caught in the end zone. Brady jokingly said, “We could have used you tonight!” The video has more than 7 million views.

The New York Jets hired the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator Robert Saleh as their next head coach.

The New York Mets fired general manager Jared Porter only a day after it was reported he sent explicit unsolicited sexual images and texts to a female reporter while he was working for the Chicago Cubs in 2016. According to new owner, Steve Cohen, “In my initial press conference I spoke about the importance of integrity and I meant it. There should be zero tolerance for this type of behavior.”
