Joe Burrow Wins Heisman, 5 Teams Clinch Playoff Spots, Falcons Crazy Win Over Niners, Manning’s Standing Ovation

To no one’s surprise, on Saturday night LSU quarterback Joe Burrow won the most prestigious award in college sports, the Heisman Trophy. Burrow set a record with the highest percentage of first-place votes (90.7). He garnered 841 first-place votes compared to 12 for runner-up Jalen Hurts of Oklahoma and six for third-place finisher Justin Fields from Ohio State. He is the second Heisman Trophy winner from LSU.

After week 15 in the NFL, the postseason picture is coming together with the San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bill, and New England Patriots clinching playoff spots.

In one of the craziest endings to a game, the Atlanta Falcons were down 17-22 with just under a minute left on the clock when Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan threw what appeared to be a touchdown (but was overturned).  Ryan then threw a quick 5-yarder to Julio Jones which was at first not ruled a touchdown but then overturned for the score. To make matters worse for the Niners, the Falcons also scored on a fumble recovery on the kickoff. Falcons 29, Niners 22

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning may have played his final home game for his team in an emotional 36-20 win over the Miami Dolphins. Manning threw for two touchdowns and was given a standing ovation as he exited the field with 1:50 remaining. Manning got emotional after the game saying, “It’s a special day, a special win and one I’ll remember.”
