Cavs Flurry Of Trades At Deadline, 2018 Winter Olympics Begins

BASKETBALL

The NBA trade deadline expired Thursday afternoon, but not without a whirlwind of moves by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers caused the most drama making 6 trades in just over an hour. They sent Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye (and a first round draft pick) to the Los Angeles Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. The Cavs then acquired George Hill and Rodney Hood and sent Derrick Rose and Jae Crowder to the Utah Jazz. If your head isn’t spinning yet, it should as the flurry of trades continued with the Cavs eventually sending Dwayne Wade back to Miami, where he’s said he wants to retire. The Cavs wanted to change the chemistry of the team and make LeBron happy. We’ll see how that works out in the next few months.

OLYMPICS

The 2018 Winter Olympics is finally here! You can watch the opening ceremony Friday night at 8:00 pm and witness South and North Korea walking together under one flag (an event of historic proportions, as many believe the two countries are still technically at war since no peace treaty was ever signed in 1953), South and North Korea’s women’s’ hockey team competing as one, and Vice President Mike Pence sitting feet away from North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong. The opening ceremony will feature 2,900 athletes from 90 nations. For a guide to all events and how to watch, click here.
