Cavs Bring Championship To Cleveland In Dramatic, Historic Fashion, Johnson Wins US Open Amid Controversy

NBA

CavsIn an exciting game from start to finish, the Cleveland Cavaliers pulled off what no other team has EVER done in the NBA. They shockingly came back from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Golden State Warriors for the Championship. Most of the time a matchup as anticipated as Game 7 doesn’t live up to the hype, but Sunday nights battle in Oakland exceeded all expectations. With 20 lead changes, the game could have gone either way and fans were on the edge of their seats. With a minute left, Kyrie Irving launched a fadeaway 3-pointer (kind of ironic as that shot was the Warriors’ go-to winning shot all season), to give the Cavs the final lead. The unanimous MVP of the Finals, LeBron James couldn’t stop crying after the win. He said, “I came back for a reason. I came back to bring a championship to our city. I knew what I was capable of doing.”

The Cavaliers didn’t just win a championship Sunday night in historic fashion, they also delivered the city of Cleveland its first major sports championship in 52 years. Cleveland 93, Warriors 89.

Dustin Johnson played the final few holes of the US Open wondering if he would be penalized for an earlier rule violation. With seven holes left to play, Johnson remained focused to pull out the win for his first major Championship. The USGA is being criticized for how they handled the situation while Johnson got pats on the back from the players (and the fans) for keeping his cool.
