Westbrook Accidentally Fires Ball At Ref, Grayson Allen Reinstated, High School Changes Mascot To Gender Neutral

BASKETBALL

You don’t usually see basketball players firing a ball at a referee’s head, but Russell Westbrook did exactly that on Wednesday evening during the OKC, Charlotte game. Looking at the replay, it appears to be an accident, but Westbrook still got called for a technical. Westbrook said he would”never, ever disrespect the game like that.” The Thunder lost to the Hornets 112-123.

Duke’s Coach Krzyzewski reinstated Grayson Allen after his one game suspension for tripping a player. Coach K is set to undergo back surgery, and said he felt Allen was ready to come back. Allen claims he learned his lesson and will focus more on his team versus thinking about himself. He said he was able to reflect during the holiday break.  “It was actually very nice just to be quiet and enjoy the company of each other. I’m very appreciative to have the parents that I do have. They’re very supportive of me, while obviously making sure I know that’s not the right thing to do.”

stallion-2A Kentucky high school will be changing their mascot from “Stallion” to a “gender neutral horse mascot” school officials believe will more “appropriate for female sports fans”. One definition from the dictionary states, ”The definition of a stallion is a male horse that has not been castrated, used for breeding or is slang for a powerful and virile man who has a lot of lovers”. One community member started a petition to change the name and when 200 people signed, the school acquiesced. Sometimes you think you’ve heard it all, then you see something like this!
