WATERCOOLER CHAT: THANKS FOR FOOTBALL, FOOD AND FAMILY

11615031

It’s Turkey Day and you know what that means, heaps and heaps of….football.  Three games today!

The tradition of playing football on Thanksgiving has been around almost as long as the sport itself, but the NFL took up the tradition and made it an annual event when the Lions played in 1934. And, the Detroit Lions have been playing on Thanksgiving Day since then (except during WWII years 1939-1944). The tradition started for the Lions when they recently arrived in Detroit and  wanted to drum up some interest and extra publicity.

The Dallas Cowboys, being one of the most popular franchises in the sport, joined the fun and have also played every year since 1966.

So, here’s the lineup for the day:

12:30 EST: Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions (Fox)

4:15 EST: Oakland Raiders at Dallas Cowboys (CBS)

8:20 EST: New York Giants at Denver Broncos (NFL Network)

Enjoy the games, enjoy the turkey and enjoy of a day of rest with your family. Happy Thanksgiving!
