PGA & LIV Merge, Churchill Downs Suspends Racing, DeGrom Out

GOLF

After two years of bitter fighting and lots of drama, the PGA Tour and LIV Golf (the group backed by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund) will merge. The combined forces will create “a new, collectively owned, for-profit entity.” Many big-name stars, such as Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka, left the PGA for a much larger paycheck from LIV (and were vilified by other golfers and fans), but now that the leagues have merged, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

HORSE RACING

Churchill Downs Inc announced that racing will be suspended from June 7th-July 3rd to conduct a review of the track after 12 horses died in the past month.

BASEBALL

Jacob deGrom will undergo Tommy John surgery and isn’t expected to return until the middle of next season. DeGrom signed a five-year, $185 million deal this offseason with the Texas Rangers.
