Highlights From MLB Opening Day, Pigs In Blanket A First For Champions Dinner

BASEBALL

Two games were postponed on Major League Baseball’s opening day (Orioles-Red Sox due to rain) and (Mets-Nationals due to COVID-19 positive tests).

Some highlights from Opening day….

Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera hit the first home run of the season (his 350th overall) in a rare snowstorm for an opening day causing him to lose sight of the ball and slide into second base. Someone then alerted him he had actually hit a home run.

The other odd play of the day was when L.A. Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger hit a ball deep to left field that looked like Colorado Rockies’ Ramiel Tapia caught. Justin Turner was on first base running past second, but when he thought the ball was caught, headed back to first. Bellinger however, had already rounded first base and was heading to second when he crossed paths with Turner. According to the rules, Turner was called out and Bellinger recorded a single instead of a home run.

GOLF

It’s tradition for the previous year’s winner of the Masters to choose the menu for the following year.  Dustin Johnson revealed what he’ll be serving at the Champions Dinner before next week’s Masters. The guests will be served Pigs in a Blanket (first time served in the history of this dinner) as an appetizer followed by filet mignon and sea bass.
