MLB Opening Day, Lindor’s Massive Contract W/Mets, Sabres Finally Win

BASEBALL

Today is Major League Baseball’s opening day! Stadiums are planning to welcome a limited number of fans with coronavirus protocols including enforcing the wearing of masks. According to a Washington Post-University of Maryland poll, less than half of Americans feel comfortable attending a live sporting event, so it will be interesting to see how many fans show up.

In other MLB news, the NY Mets agreed to a massive contract extension with shortstop Francisco Lindor. The 10-year $341 million deal is the largest contract ever signed for a shortstop and the third-largest contract signed in MLB history.

Congratulations to the Buffalo Sabres who finally snapped an 18-game losing streak. With their win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night, they avoided the embarrassment of holding the longest winless streak in NHL history.
