Daytona 500 Crash/Delay/McDowell Wins, Fan Controlled Football League, Jalen Johnson Leaving Duke

The Daytona 500 started off with a 16-car crash early on Sunday followed by a 5-hour and 40-minute rain delay. Michael McDowell ended up winning the race after only leading by one lap (the final lap). It’s his first victory.

Former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel made his debut in the new Fan Controlled Football League, a professional sports league controlled by the fans. The season began on February 13th and will last six weeks. Fans can view the season via Twitch.

Duke freshman Jalen Johnson announced he’s leaving the team and entering the NBA Draft. Johnson stated, “My family, Coach and I have made the decision that I should not play the remainder of this season so I can be 100 percent healthy in preparation for the NBA Draft. This was not easy but we feel it’s best for my future. I have nothing but love for the Brotherhood and thank my teammates and everyone associated with the program. Duke will always have a special place in my heart and will always be a part of me.”
