FOOTBALL

The Dallas Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott drama looks to be over with Elliott agreeing to a six-year $90 million contract extension.  With $50 million guaranteed (surpassing Todd Gurley’s $45 mill), the contract makes Elliott the wealthiest running back to play in the NFL. Elliott is expected to be at practice Wednesday and ready to play the season opener against the New York Giants.

In other huge contract news, Rams quarterback Jared Goff agreed to a record-setting four-year contract extension worth $134 million (with $110 million guaranteed).

BASEBALL

The Washington Nationals stunned baseball fans with their improbable comeback victory over the New York Mets in the ninth inning Tuesday night. With a three-run walk-off home run, the Nationals came back from a  10-4  deficit in the bottom of the ninth to win 11-10. The ugly loss for the Mets likely ended their season.

TENNIS

In a stunning upset, #3 ranked Roger Federer lost to 78th ranked Grigor Dimitrov at the US Open Tuesday night. Federer was previously 7-0 against Dimitrov.

Serena Williams handily defeated Qiang Want in 44 minutes in the quarterfinals, making her only the 4th player in the Open era to win 100 matches at a single major. She will face Elina Svitolina in the semifinals.
