Notre Dame Takes Down Clemson, Alabama #1, Mahomes Fastest To 100, Steelers Undefeated, Bucs Destroyed, Chase Wins NASCAR Cup

FOOTBALL

On Saturday, #4 ranked Notre Dame took down #1 ranked Clemson (playing without quarterback Trevor Lawrence who tested positive for COVID-19) in a thrilling double overtime. In the 47-40 loss, Clemson had its first regular-season defeat in 36 games.

In other college news, Alabama jumped into the #1 spot, and Notre Dame moved up to #2 in the latest AP poll. Ohio State, Clemson then Texas A&M round out the top five.

Here are a few highlights of the NFL weekend games:

In a nailbiter win over the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes became the fastest quarterback in league history to throw 100 touchdown passes. Mahomes reached this goal in 40 games, surpassing Dan Marino’s 44 game record set in 1986.

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and are the only NFL team to remain undefeated this season. They are now 8-0 for the first time in franchise history.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got destroyed 38-3 on Sunday night by the New Orleans Saints. The pressure was on quarterback Tom Brady all night forcing three interceptions and no touchdowns. The Bucs ended the night with only 8 rushing yards on five carries.

NASCAR

Chase Elliott won his first NASCAR Cup Series championship title by winning the final race of the season. Chase and his dad Bill became the third father-son duo to win the title. They join Lee and Richard Petty and Ned and Dale Jarrett.
