McCaffrey Becomes Highest Paid RB, WWE Essential Business, Westbrook Purchases 650 Computers

FOOTBALL

The Carolina Panthers star player Christian McCaffrey signed a four-year contract extension worth $16 million per year, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history. He eclipses the Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott who was making $15 million per year. McCaffrey told ESPN, “I’m so excited to continue my career in Carolina. And to Panthers fans, KEEP POUNDING!”

WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings announced that WWE was an “essential business” in Florida. The WWE was initially not considered essential and therefore subject to the stay-at-home order, but the decision was overturned, and the WWE will join other essential businesses such as health care, financial, energy, food, communications, and transportation sectors.

BASKETBALL

The Houston Rockets NBA All-Star and former MVP, Russell Westbrook, purchased 650 laptop computers for students in Houston who are now learning from home and don’t have access to technology that will help them in their studies. Russell announced at a press conference, “I’m extremely excited to be able to collaborate with Comp-U-Dopt and find ways to be able to impact the youth immediately. It’s something that I’m very, very passionate about through my foundation, and I’m just trying to find a way — especially now — to be able to bridge the gap and give kids access to another way of learning, through computers. This allows them to be able to continue their education, especially from home. I’m happy to be a part of it.”
