Masters First Round, No Cell Phones, Duke’s Reddish And Barrett Enter Draft, No Word On Zion

GOLF

The Masters is underway and after the first round, 25-year old Bryson DeChambeau (ranked #6 in World Golf) and 28-year old Brooks Koepka (ranked #4 in World Golf) lead the pack. It’s the first time two players in their 20’s, and ranked in the top 6, share the leaderboard after any round in one of the Majors. In other Masters news, at 48 years old, Phil Mickelson shot his best first round since 2010 when he won the tournament for the third time, and Tiger Woods shot a steady 70, which is the same score he shot after the first round all three times he won the tournament.

The one thing you won’t see at the Masters is a cell phone. Fans caught with a cell phone will receive a lifetime ban from the event. That means no tweeting, no selfies, just quiet time to walk around and have conversations with other golf enthusiasts (think, opposite of Happy Gilmore).

BASKETBALL

Duke freshman Cam Reddish officially announced he will enter the 2019 NBA draft. Reddish and teammate R.J. Barrett (who also announced he was entering the draft) are both considered top picks. Duke’s superstar, Zion Williamson, hasn’t officially declared he’ll enter the draft yet, but he’s widely expected to be the #1 pick.
