Jets Release Le’Veon Bell, Titans Overpower Bills, Astros On Brink, Dodgers Need A Win

FOOTBALL

Le’Veon Bell is finally out of New York. The running back signed a four-year, $52.5 million contract with the Jets in March of 2019 and has been at odds with coach Adam Gase ever since. No word yet on where Bell will land.

The Tennessee Titans only practiced three times in 16 days due to coronavirus issues, but that didn’t stop them from overpowering the Buffalo Bills on a rescheduled Tuesday night game. Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the 42-16 win over the Bills. The Titans are now 4-0 for the season.

BASEBALL

The Houston Astros are on the brink of elimination with a 2-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. The Astros are now up 3-0 with game 4 Wednesday night at 8:40 pm.

The Dodgers need to find their mojo against the Atlanta Braves. With an 8-7 win on Tuesday, the Braves are up 2-0 in the series. Game 3 is Wednesday night at 6:05 pm.

FOOTBALL

Running back Le’Veon Bell looked excited to be at his first NY Jets practice. Bell missed all of the 2018 Season due to a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers then signed as a free agent with the Jets.  In other Jets news, the team is still searching for a GM since firing Mike Maccagnan in mid-May.

TENNIS

With a net worth of $225 million, she ranks 80th on the list. Odell Beckham Jr Traded To Browns, Le’Veon Bell To Jets

FOOTBALL

The sports world seemed stunned yesterday when it was reported the New York Giants will trade their superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr to the Cleveland Browns. Many even thought it was a joke, but as of today, the trade will happen. Beckham Jr received a $20 million signing bonus from the Giants only a few months ago, which is why many were confused. The Giants will acquire safety Jabrill Peppers and a first and third-round pick in the NFL draft.

In other big trade news, Le’Veon Bell plans to sign a 4-year $52.5 million deal with the New York Jets. Bell let his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates down when he refused to play in 2018 on a franchise tag that would have given him a five-year $70 million deal with $30 million in the first two seasons. Many in the sports world are also scratching their head wondering if this deal was worth Bell letting his teammates down by not joining them on the field all year.

Amari Coopers First Game In Dallas, Le’Veon Bell Tweets “Fairwell Miami”

FOOTBALL

Monday Night Football featured the Dallas Cowboys and the Tennessee Titans. It was Amari Cooper’s first game for the Cowboys since he was traded from the Oakland Raiders for a first round pick. Cooper scored early on giving the Cowboys some hope. Unfortunately for the team though, they couldn’t keep up the energy, and according to owner Jerry Jones, “It looked like we were tired. Throughout the game, actually tired. I don’t know if that’s the case at all, physically. But that’s what it looked like.”  Jones also denied he was thinking of firing head coach Jason Garrett. Titans 28, Cowboys 14.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell tweeted “Fairwell Miami” causing many to wonder if he’ll be reporting to team practices this week in anticipation of playing in the Thursday night matchup against the Carolina Panthers. If Bell doesn’t show up before next Tuesday the 13th, he won’t be able to play at all this season and could forfeit his ability to become an unrestricted free agent next season. Apparently, the team has minimal contact with Bell and don’t seem to miss him, as they’ve moved on with the stellar play of second-year running back James Conner.

Le’Veon Bell And Others Substance Abuse Suspensions, Putin Claims Olympics Not As Competitive Without Russians

NFL

With the NFL season just around the corner, some teams are feeling the pressure of starting the season without some of their stars.  We keep hearing of players failing their drug tests with a minimum of a 4 game suspension as punishment. As reported earlier this week, the Cleveland Browns’ Josh Gordon was suspended for the entire 2015 season and will miss the first 4 games of this season for failing a drug test. The Cowboys’ defensive ends Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence will also miss the first 4 games (possibly more for Gregory) for failing the NFL’s substance abuse policy. And recently reported, Steelers’ Running Back, Le’Veon Bell will likely miss the first 4 games of the season for failing to show up for multiple drug tests. Bell claims he didn’t know about the tests because he changed his phone number. Many are also criticizing the NFL  for what drugs they test. The NFL’s substance abuse policy includes testing for Marijuana which, according to defenders of the substance,  is legal is some states and isn’t as addictive as pain killers or performance enhancing drugs.  It’s unlikely the NFL’s drug policies will change anytime soon so players should take these tests seriously.

OLYMPICS

Putin 2Speaking of doping, many Russian athletes won’t be competing in next week’s Olympics and, according to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, the quality of the games will be greatly diminished. He said “‘athletes will’ understand that the quality of their medals will be different, because it’s one thing to defeat an equal, strong opponent, and quite another – to compete with obviously weaker opponents. Such victory has a very different taste or maybe bad taste.”

Cowboys Sign Alfred Morris, Elliott In Cabo, Bell Apologizes To Fantasy Owners

FOOTBALL

Ezekiel Elliott still hasn’t reported to Dallas training camp (reportedly heading to Cabo San Lucas), so the Cowboys signed former Pro Bowler Alfred Morris. This isn’t the first time Morris has filled in for Elliott. In 2017, the team brought Morris in while Elliott was suspended for six games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

After a year-long contract dispute, Le’Veon Bell signed with the New York Jets this offseason. In expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, he also tweeted an apology to fantasy football owners for drafting him last season. He said, “this is loooong overdue!! but I want to take a moment to apologize to all the fantasy owners who picked me last year, I’m sorry I couldn’t pull through for y’all…but trust me, this year’s about to be wayyyy different, I’m bringing the

Antonio Brown Trade To Raiders, Bell Also Expected To Leave, Devin Booker’s Game High Scoring Beats Warriors

FOOTBALL

The Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to trade their star receiver Antonio Brown (caught 100 passes in 6 consecutive seasons) to the Oakland Raiders. The deal becomes official on Wednesday at 4:00 pm when the new league years begins. The Steelers star running back Le’Veon Bell is also expected to leave the team to free agency after refusing to play in 2018 on a franchise tag. It’s not clear whether the Steelers will be better off without their two star players who were vocally unhappy.

BASKETBALL

The Golden State Warriors were up by 16 points against the Phoenix Suns (who hadn’t beaten the Warriors since November 9th, 2014), but couldn’t hold on to the lead and lost at home 111-115. The Suns can thank Devin Booker who scored a game-high 37 points in addition to 11 assists and 8 rebounds. The Warriors lost Kevin Durant in the last six minutes of the game due to an ankle injury, but Warriors coach Steve Kerr didn’t seem too upset about the injury and expects him back soon.

Puig’s Dodgers Will Win Pennant While Pouring Beer, Kyrie’s Earth is Flat Apology, Mahomes Left Hander, Bell To Steelers Week 7

BASEBALL

Holding three beers in his hand after the Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies and clinched as National League Champions, Yasiel Puig expressed confidence his team will not just make the World Series but will win it. “Hey, Atlanta. I’ll see you soon, baby! And the next round — Chicago, Colorado — no matter who’s going, we’re going to beat ’em. And we’re going to the World Series again. And this time, we’re going to win the World Series. 2018 — the big party is here in Los Angeles.” After the interview, Puig soaked the reporter with beer!

BASKETBALL

Remember when Kyrie Irving started an “Earth is flat” movement? Well, now he’s apologizing saying he didn’t “realize the effect of the power of voice” adding he was “huge into conspiracies”, and “he’s actually a smart-ass individual”.

FOOTBALL

The Kansas City Chiefs remain the only unbeaten team in the AFC. After their win on Monday night football over the Denver Broncos, everyone is talking about the stellar play of Chief’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes who set a record of 13 touchdown passes in his first three weeks. On Monday night, even though he didn’t have quite the same stats as his previous games, he switched the ball to his left hand and completed a pass to Tyreek Hill. Teammate Kareem Hunt even called Mahomes a “magician” for that feat. Chiefs 27, Broncos 23.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported running back Le’Veon Bell will report to the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 7. He explained why he is sitting out the first part of the season, “It sucks having to sit out football. I want to play. I want to win games and get to the playoffs. But I’ve gotta take this stand. Knowing my worth and knowing I can tear a ligament or get surgery at any time. I knew I couldn’t play 16 games with 400 or more touches.”

Bell Runs For TD In Steelers’ Win, Royals & Blue Jays Stage Comeback

FOOTBALL

Le'Veon Bell In the Monday Night Football matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers, the game was pretty unexciting in the first half, but in the second half, the teams traded touchdowns. The Steelers had a choice at the end of the game at the 1-yard line — kick a field goal to tie the game and send it to overtime or put their trust in the hands of star running back .  They trusted Bell, lined him up at quarterback, and Bell ran for the game winning touchdown.  Pittsburgh 24, San Diego 20.

BASEBALL

The Houston Astros thought they had it all locked up against the Kansas City Royals, as they had a 4 run lead headed into the 8th inning.  The governor of Texas even sent a tweet congratulating Houston on winning the series and going to the ALCS.  He, um, spoke to soon, as the Royals staged an amazing late game comeback to not only tie the game, but take a commanding lead.  The teams will now play the series deciding Game 5 in Kansas City.   Kansas City 9, Houston 6.

In Texas, we witnessed a similar scenario where the Texas Rangers thought they were going  to the ALCS but they still had to beat a juggernaut Toronto Blue Jays team that had severely under-performed this post-season.  The Blue Jays, however, came to play and crushed the Rangers.  One announcer said the Blue Jays were like a super expensive shiny sports car that is just sitting in the garage, and are just now being exposed.  These guys are good, but still have their work cut out for them if they want to beat the Rangers.  Toronto 8, Texas 4.
