Eagles’ Wentz Put On Show, Curry Fined $50K, World Series Begins

FOOTBALL

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz put on a show throwing for 4 touchdowns to 4 different receivers in a big win over the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football. The winless Cleveland Browns could have had Wentz as their QB, but they gave away their #2 pick in 2016 to the Philadelphia Eagles who immediately scooped him up.  The Eagles at 6-1 currently have the best record in the NFL. Eagles 34, Redskins 24.

BASKETBALL

On Saturday night, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry threw his mouthguard in the direction of an official in a loss against the Memphis Grizzlies. Curry, along with Kevin Durant, were ejected in the 4th quarter. On Monday, the NBA fined Curry $50,000. When asked about the incident, Curry said, “I thought I got fouled and my frustration boiled over, did something stupid, deserved to get kicked out.”

BASEBALL

Wentz Is Real Deal In Eagles Win, QB Injuries, Georgetown’s Wedding Proposal Package

FOOTBALL

After Monday’s road game against the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles’ rookie QB Carson Wentz proved he’s the real deal. The Eagles traded up in April’s draft to take Wentz with the second overall pick.  The team then traded their established QB Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings just 8 days before the start of the season, and thrust Wentz into the starring role. Their gamble seems to be working out. He’s the first rookie ever to win his first two games in the NFL without throwing an interception. Eagles 29, Bears 14.

Not only are the New England Patriots expected to start a rookie QB next weekend, but now the Cleveland Browns are in the same boat. Robert Griffin III (RGIII) was supposed to be their superstar but he went down in the first game with a broken bone in his shoulder. Josh McCown took over but then suffered his own shoulder injury this past weekend. If McCown doesn’t get better, rookie Cody Kessler (third round pic in this year’s draft), will start. If injuries continue to plague quarterbacks in the League, Tim Tebow might want to reconsider his new baseball gig with the NY Mets and come back to lead a Team.

BASKETBALL

Goff/Wentz Go #1,#2 In NFL Draft, Tunsil Slides After Tweet, Broncos Grab Lynch, Hawks Defeat Celtics

NFL

Jared GoffTo no one’s surprise, the Los Angeles Rams picked  QB Jared Goff from the University of California Berkeley as the #1 pick in the NFL Draft. And, again to no surprise, Carson Wentz went #2 to the Philadelphia Eagles. There was a bit of drama in the evening when someone posted a tweet of Ole Miss Offensive Tackle, Laremy Tunsil with a gas mask on smoking something through a tube. Earlier in the week Tunsil was projected to go as one of the top picks but after the tweet came out Thursday night, Tunsil’s prospects kept dropping. On the 13th pick of the night, however, the Miami Dolphins weighed the risks/reward and picked him up.

In another interesting move of the night, the Denver Broncos traded up from the 31st pick to #26 to grab Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch. With the pick, the Broncos likely ended their pursuit of 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick.

NBA

In playoff news, the Atlanta Hawks advance to round 2 by eliminating the Boston Celtics in game 6. They are now gearing up to take on Lebron and the Cavs. Hawks 104, Celtics 92.
