HOCKEY

The Washington Capitals are in the Stanley Cup Finals! With a 4-0 game 7 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Capitals will compete for the Cup for the first time since 1998. Captain Alex Ovechkin scored just over a minute into the game and didn’t look back. After 13 years in the League, Ovechkin is finally going to the Finals. In his news conference after the win, Ovechkin said, “I think everybody is happy, but we still have unfinished, you know what I mean. I don’t know, I’m emotional right now. I think we’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. We understand what it has to take to be in the final. You can see this game was unbelievable. Everybody was all in.”

The Washington Capitals will be in Vegas taking on the Golden Knights for the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday at 8:00 pm. ET

BASKETBALL

The Cleveland Cavs looked tired and off in their game 5 loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. The Cavs missed opportunities and looked sloppy, while the Celtics continued their perfect postseason win on home court. Celtics’ Rookie Jayson Tatum added 24 points making this his 9th 20 point game of the postseason and one 20 point game away from tieing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s rookie record. Game 6 is in Cleveland on Friday 8:30 ET.

FOOTBALL

The NFL owners voted on a new national anthem policy requiring players to stand for the anthem if they are on the field but allowing them to stay in the locker room if they choose not to stand. ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted the highlights here.
