Roethlisberger On Fire Thursday Night, 7-Year Old Writes Scathing Letter To Jerry Jones, Wade And Union Welcome Baby

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was on fire Thursday night demolishing the Carolina Panthers 52-21 with 328 yards and 5 touchdowns. With the win, the Steelers are on a five game win streak.

Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett still has a job even though the team is struggling. The pressure, however, is still on owner Jerry Jones to reconsider firing him or make some other drastic changes. A 7-year old boy even got in the action by writing a scathing letter to Jones explaining his disappointment in the team. The boy’s mom thought the letter was hillarious so posted it to Facebook and it’s making the rounds. Here’s what the boy said:

“Dear Mr. Jones, My name is Rylan Wood. I am a 7-year-old 2nd grade student in Mansfield, Texas. My family has been Dallas Cowboys fans since the team was started. I have a lot of Cowboy gear and I have met ‘Zeke, Taco, Jason Witten and two other players who play on other teams.

You have made my mom very mad because WE SUCK! Every game day she is yelling at the TV and turns off the game. We are wanting to believe in the boys but its hard. I hope ‘Coach Garrett’ is clapping if this letter gets to you. See what happens when Dez X is gone?? The cheerleaders are better than the team this year. I do not want to hurt your feelings. Thank you, Rylan”

Miami Heat’s Dwayne Wade and wife actress Gabrielle Union welcomed a baby girl on Thursda via surrogate. After 16 years in the League, this is Wade’s last year on the court as he wants to spend more time with his family.

Pelicans, Warriors, 76ers Advance, Wade Praise To Sixers, Curry’s Gone Hollywood

The New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, and the Philadelphia 76ers have all advanced to round 2 of the NBA Playoffs.

After the Miami Heat’s loss to the Sixers, 36-year old Dwayne Wade admitted he’s thinking about his future and whether he’s ready to retire. He also gave high praise to the Sixers and said, “You want to see nothing but good things for those guys. This is the future of the NBA. The NBA is in great hands with Ben (Simmons) and Joel (Embiid) and those kind of individuals.” In addition to moving on to the 2nd round (their first playoff series win since 2002), the big hype of the night was welcoming rapper Meek Mill to the arena after his release from prison. Sixers minority owner, Michael Rubin, had been very vocal in trying to secure Meek’s release.

Steph Curry had to sit out the first round of the playoffs due to injury, but he’s planning to be back and in full form in round two against the New Orleans Pelicans. He’s also been busy forming a production company called Unanimous Media. The company will work on TV projects, gaming and virtual reality with a nod to the Curry’s interest in family, faith and sports.  Curry stated,  “I’ve been blessed to have this platform and I want to use it to affect the world positively. Partnering with Sony to share inspiring content with a global audience was a foregone conclusion.”

Chloe Kim Wins Gold, LeBron And NBA Stars Obsessed With Wine

Chloe Kim fulfilled her lifelong dream and won gold for the US in the halpipe. It’s pretty safe to say it was a lifelong dream as she is only 17 and was ready but not old enough to compete in the Olympics 4 years ago. Not going to lie, I don’t know what a 1080 is, but apparently it’s a big deal, and she’s the only woman to land them back to back (which she also did on Tuesday to win the Gold). During the qualifying rounds, Kim tweeted she’d be “down for some ice cream”, so when she won a fan gave her a cup of chocolate ice cream, which she ate while doing her interviews. Looks like Ben and Jerry’s has a new spokesperson!

ESPNw features a story of NBA players new obsession with wine. If you’re a oenophile or just a fan of some of the NBA superstars like LeBron, DeWayne Wade (who even has his own label), Steph Curry, Chris Paul, and Jimmy Butler, it’s a fun read on how they are spending their time off the court.  Carissa Mondavi, the granddaughter of Napa’s wine pioneer Robert Mondavi, reflected on why it makes sense so many of these players are interested and appreciate the complexity of wine. She said, “ NBA players are the product of so many unseen hours spent perfecting so many hidden details, all leading to the moment when the ball is tossed in the air. So too is wine crafted against countless variables — the weather, soil, harvest, tanks, the barrels and blends, the delicate alchemy of it all — until, one day, the cork is pulled. For both to shine, it takes so much work no one will ever see.“ LeBron admitted he “believes in wine’s purported physical benefits” and said,  “I’ve heard it’s good for the heart. Listen, I’m playing the best basketball of my life, and I’m drinking some wine pretty much every day. Whatever it is, I’ll take it.”

Browns Lose Again, College Player Burned, Wade Standing O, Mannequin Challenge In White House

The Cleveland Browns are making history, but not in a good way. After another loss Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens, the Browns are now 0-10, their worst start in the history of the franchise. They are also the first team since 2011 to use 3 Quarterbacks in one game. Ravens 28, Browns 7.

In an odd story out of the college ranks, Jonnu Smith a senior tight end at FIU (Florida International University) season ended after his girlfriend poured boiling water on him causing severe burns. Smith is an NFL prospect.  His girlfriend is 5 months pregnant and will be charged with aggravated battery.

Dwayne Wade got a standing ovation in his return to Miami. Wade famously joined the Chicago Bulls this summer after spending 13 seasons with the Miami Heat.  Even though Wade got a warm reception from the crowd, he said it was a weird game to play. He said, “Just a good environment though, man. The fans were great. I appreciate the ovation, the cheers. The things that they were saying, I appreciate it all. But the game itself was weird.” Wade helped his new team to a 98-95 win.

Mannequin ChallengeThe NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers were invited to the White House on Thursday as a congratulation on their winning season. In addition to spending time with the President, they seemed to have a blast doing the mannequin challenge with First Lady Michelle Obama.

Bulls Grab Dwayne Wade From Heat, Russell Wilson And Ciara Wed

The Chicago Bulls upgraded their roster Wednesday night by recruiting Dwayne Wade from the Miami Heat. With the recent addition of Rajon Rondo and with current star Jimmy Butler, the Bulls go from a rebuilding team to a contender.  Wade will surely be missed in Miami. In 13 seasons with the Team he won 3 NBA titles and one finals MVP. Wade signed a 2 year contract with the Bulls for $47 million. Wade is from the Chicago area and told the AP, “I have never forgotten where I came from, and I am thankful to have an opportunity to play for the team that first fueled my love of the game.”

Curry Back And Puts On Show W/40 Points In OT Win, Wade Apologizes Then 30 Points In OT

Steph CurrySteph Curry returned and put on a show Monday night with a stunning 40 points, 17 of them in overtime in a Game 4 win against the Portland Trailblazers.  Steph made history again as no other player has scored 17 points in OT (either in the regular season or in the post season). The closest any player has come was in 2006 by Gilbert Arenas who scored 16 points.

Curry remarked, “It took me awhile to get back in the flow. When you miss three weeks, it’s really weird to walk back on the court. Like, the crowd out there going crazy and that competitive atmosphere again. So, just trying to get my bearings straight, make some plays and try and get a rhythm. And it took 48 minutes and things finally clicked.” Warriors 132, Trailblazers 125.

In the other playoff news, Dwayne Wade spent the last couple of days apologizing for any disrespect his shootaround caused during the singing of O Canada prior to game 3 on Saturday. In game 4 on Monday night, Wade was the first to stand during the Canadian National Anthem then turned his attention to scoring 30 points for the Heat in an overtime win over the Trailblazers. Miami 94, Portland 87.

Nyquist Wins Kentucky Derby, Cavs Sweep Series, Wade Criticized For Shooting During O Canada, Durant Scores 41, Curry Named MVP Again

NyquistUndefeated favorite Nyquist won the Kentucky Derby. With the win, he’s now 8 for 8 and will try and keep his streak alive with a win in the 2nd leg of the triple crown, the Preakness on May 21st. Nyquist was named in honor of Hockey’s Gustav Nyquist from the Detroit Red Wings

The Cleveland Cavs are heading to the East Finals with a four game sweep of the Atlanta Hawks. With inspiring play from Kevin Love, Lebron James, and Kyrie Irving, the Cavs made this series look easy. Cavs 100, Hawks 99.

Many are criticizing Dwayne Wade when he continued his shootaround during the singing of O Canada prior to the game on Saturday against the Toronto Raptors. Wade said he meant no disrespect but was just finishing his pre-game routine. The NBA rule book states that players must stand with respect during National Anthems. The Heat ended up losing game 3 to the Raptors, 95-91.

In other playoff news, the OKC Thunder tied its series 2-2 against the San Antonio Spurs. With a career tying 41 points from Kevin Durant, the Thunder cruised to a 111-97 win.

Finally, to no one’s surprise ESPN reported the Warriors guard Steph Curry will be named the NBA Most Valuable Player for a second successive season.

Bonner Claims Iphone Hurt His Elbow, Free Agency Moves, Dwayne Wade’s Insta Pic On Yacht

Sometimes athletes should just be seen and not heard. In one of the most ridiculous excuses, Matt Bonner, center for the San Antonio Spurs, explained that he suffered an elbow injury last season due to tennis elbow….from the larger apple iphone. According to the Concord Monitor, he said, “Everybody is going to find this hilarious … When the new iPhone came out it was way bigger than the last one, and I think because I got that new phone it was a strain to use it, you have to stretch further to hit the buttons, and I honestly think that’s how I ended up developing it.”

Dwayne WadeIn other NBA news, David Lee is leaving the Golden State Warriors and heading to the Boston Celtics. And, the Los Angeles Clippers’ J.J. Redick was very explicit in his disappointment with the Clippers’ organization for not keeping DeAndre Jordan, who is heading to Dallas. There are a few players who couldn’t look happier, however. Dwayne Wade posted an instagram pic with Lebron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony toasting each other while sitting on a yacht. The hashtag was “brotherhood”.
