Panther’s QB Cam Newton lost his cool after another hit to the head during the Carolina’s win over the Washington Redskins Monday night. As Newton was sliding out of bounds Redskins defender Trent Murphy ran over him. When a penalty wasn’t called, Newton threw the football at Murphy’s head. Cam was immediately assessed a penalty which took the team out of field goal range. According to Cam, “I’ve got to be better than that. That just can’t happen on my part. I just have to let the referees do their job, and obviously, it was a questionable hit, but I can’t throw the ball at a person. That’s against the rules too.” Washington still lost the game and severely hurt its playoff hopes. Panthers 26, Redskins 15.
Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey announced he will skip the Sun Bowl to focus on the NFL draft. McCaffrey led Stanford in rushing and receiving and should go high in the 2017 draft. Many people are discussing whether skipping the Bowl game is fair to the team and whether it sets up a bad precedent. On the other hand, if Christian plays in the bowl game and gets hurt, his star could drop significantly in the draft (which could mean a serious loss of money). LSU’s Leonard Fournette (who has been injured all year long) will also be skipping his Bowl game. Many draft contenders are already preparing for the NFL Combine which can make or break a player’s prospects. No comments
Friday night in the Rose Bowl, Stanford dominated Iowa 45-16 with Heisman runner up Christian McCaffrey setting a Rose Bowl record of 368 all purpose yards. McCaffrey has been putting up huge numbers like this all season, and he is only a sophomore. Before the game Stanford fans must have been nervous, but after the first play from scrimmage they knew they were in for a ride. The first play was a 75 yard catch and run by McCaffrey. In other NCAA news, Clemson and Alabama will be playing in the second ever NCAA football championship after Alabama destroyed Michigan State 38-0 and Clemson beat Oklahoma 37-17.

Winning the Heisman trophy is the greatest honor in all of college football. Seven finalists were announced on Monday. The three frontrunners appear to be Alabama’s running back, Derrick Henry as he’s led the Crimson Tide’s offense with his commanding rushing stats, Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey who broke Barry Sanders all-purpose yards record, and Clemson QB DeShaun Watson with his passing efficiency. Dalvin Cook, Baker Mayfield, Ezekiel Elliot and Keenan Reynolds round out the field. The winner will be announced Saturday night in NY.
The Monday Night Football game between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys looked ugly and finished even uglier when the Redskins’ DeSean Jackson fumbled the ball on a punt return leading to Dallas’ only TD. Jackson tried to redeem himself with a late touchdown but Dallas had just enough time left for a field goal to win the game. Cowboys 19, Redskins 16.No comments
