Osaka Beat Serena, Djokovic In Final, Jazz On Tear, Tebow Retires, Cam Newton Spends Millions On Clothes

TENNIS

Naomi Osaka beat Serena Williams in the Australian Open semifinals for her 20th consecutive victory and her second Australian Open final. At 23 years old, Osaka is trying to win her fourth Grand Slam title. She will take on 25-year old Jennifer Brady.

In the men’s final, Novak Djokovic will play either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Daniil Medvedev. With his victory in the semis over Aslan Karatsev, Djokovic will be playing in his ninth Australian Open final.

BASKETBALL

The Utah Jazz are on a tear. With the amazing play of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert (the Stifle Tower), the Jazz have won nine straight games (and 20 of their last 21).

BASEBALL

Tim Tebow, the former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback, is retiring from professional baseball. Tebow signed with the NY Mets in 2016 and has been part of their minor-league program.

FOOTBALL

New England Patriot quarterback Cam Newton admitted he spends too much money on clothes he only wears once, and he wants to change the habit. He said, “I’ve spent thousands and thousands of dollars, maybe even millions of dollars on clothes that I only wore once, so to be able to recycle the closest, so to speak, is something that’s challenging. But at the same time, it’s going to be fun to do so throughout this whole year.”
