Greatest Golf Shot Ever, Tiger’s Champions Dinner, SEC Matchup Postponed

GOLF

It’s a tradition on the 16th hole of the Masters during practice rounds to skip your shot on the water. When Jon Rahm did this on Tuesday (his birthday), he made a remarkable hole in one. Click here for one of the greatest golf shots ever.

The Masters officially begins on Thursday. One of the traditions during Masters’ week is the Champions Dinner. The winner of the previous year’s tournament gets to choose the meal. Tiger Woods is the current champion so had the honor of picking the menu. He chose the Augusta sushi roll (with shrimp and tuna), steak and chicken fajitas, and flan and churros for dessert. It was all complimented by Shafer Chardonnay and Cabernet.

FOOTBALL

The highly anticipated SEC matchup between #1 ranked Alabama and defending champion LSU will be postponed because of COVID-19 issues. Texas A&M and Tennessee will also be postponed. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey stated, “While it is unfortunate to have multiple postponements in the same week, we began the season with the understanding interruptions to the schedule were possible and we have remained focused throughout the season on the health of everyone around our programs.”

Pats Beat Jets, Jets 0-9, NBA Draft Nov 18th, LaMelo Ball Expected #1 Pick

FOOTBALL

The New England Patriots barely eked out a win over the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. Nick Folks 51-yard field goal sealed the win for the Pats handing the Jets their 9th loss of the season. The Jets are now 0-9 for the first time in team history. The good news is their dismal record makes them primed to have the first pick in the NFL draft, and Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence could be their new quarterback. Patriots 30, Jets 27

BASKETBALL

With the new season of the NBA set for a December 22nd start, the League announced the NBA draft will take place on November 18th. As of now, it looks like LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, and James Wiseman could be the top three picks with the Minnesota Timberwolves (unless they trade down) having the first choice.

Notre Dame Takes Down Clemson, Alabama #1, Mahomes Fastest To 100, Steelers Undefeated, Bucs Destroyed, Chase Wins NASCAR Cup

FOOTBALL

On Saturday, #4 ranked Notre Dame took down #1 ranked Clemson (playing without quarterback Trevor Lawrence who tested positive for COVID-19) in a thrilling double overtime. In the 47-40 loss, Clemson had its first regular-season defeat in 36 games.

In other college news, Alabama jumped into the #1 spot, and Notre Dame moved up to #2 in the latest AP poll. Ohio State, Clemson then Texas A&M round out the top five.

Here are a few highlights of the NFL weekend games:

In a nailbiter win over the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes became the fastest quarterback in league history to throw 100 touchdown passes. Mahomes reached this goal in 40 games, surpassing Dan Marino’s 44 game record set in 1986.

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and are the only NFL team to remain undefeated this season. They are now 8-0 for the first time in franchise history.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got destroyed 38-3 on Sunday night by the New Orleans Saints. The pressure was on quarterback Tom Brady all night forcing three interceptions and no touchdowns. The Bucs ended the night with only 8 rushing yards on five carries.

NASCAR

Chase Elliott won his first NASCAR Cup Series championship title by winning the final race of the season. Chase and his dad Bill became the third father-son duo to win the title. They join Lee and Richard Petty and Ned and Dale Jarrett.

Rodgers Throws 4 TD’s In Packers Win Over Niners, Raiders Fined And Lose Pick For COVID Violations, NBA Season Approved, Breeders Cup

FOOTBALL

Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers went on a tear throwing for four touchdowns in a 34-17 blowout win over the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately, the Niners have been racked by injuries and COVID-19 issues and are likely to continue to struggle this season.

The Las Vegas Raiders have been fined a total of $1,185 million in fines so far this season for violations related to COVID-19. Coach Jon Gruden has been fined an additional $150,000 for what ESPN reported as “brazen and repeated violations of [COVID-19] protocols.” Multiple teammates including quarterback Derek Carr were also fined for appearing at a Darren Waller Foundation charity event without masks. The NFL is taking these violations seriously and have even taken away one of their draft picks.

BASKETBALL

The NBA Players Association approved a 72-game season to begin on December 22nd and finish before the start of the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

HORSE RACING

The end of the season $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic takes place on Saturday night at 5:18 pm ET. Tiz the Law, the winner of the Belmont Stakes and The Travers will be running at 3-1 odds, while the Kentucky Derby winner, Authentic, goes off at 6-1 odds.

Brady’s 18th Career MNF Win, Jon Lester Buys $47,000 Worth Of Miller Lites For His Fans

FOOTBALL

Tom Brady is unstoppable on Monday Night Football. Marking his 18th career MNF game win, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the New York Giants. The game ended on a controversial note, however, when the referees threw a flag for pass interference against the Bucs on a two-point conversion attempt by the Giants. The two-points would have tied the game, but the refs reversed their decision giving the Bucs a 25-23 win.

BASEBALL

Jon Lester may or may not be playing for the Chicago Cubs next season, as the team declined the $25 million option on his contract. Lester has been with the team for 6 years and wanted to show appreciation to the fans, so he tweeted last week that he’d pay for one Miller Lite per fan at four bars in the Chicago area. By the end of the day, he spent over $47,000 for 4,838 Miller Lites.

Javon Wims Throws Punch To Helmet In Bears Loss, Steelers Undefeated, Tua’s Debut & Dolphin Win, Chargers Make History (Unfortunately)

FOOTBALL

In one of the most bizarre and ugly incidents on Sunday, Chicago Bears’ wide receiver Javon Wims walked straight up to Saints’ safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson after the play ended and punched him in the helmet twice. Gardner-Johnson didn’t fight back (he looked almost stunned at what happened). Wims was immediately ejected and awaits the ruling on the rest of his punishment for this egregious act. It’s not clear if this incident rattled the team, but Bears’ quarterback Nick Foles threw an interception on the next play. The Bears ended up losing in overtime 23-26.

The Pittsburgh Steelers remain undefeated after beating the Baltimore Ravens 28-24.

Tua Tagovailoa’s debut as starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins was solid enough for the team to beat a battered LA Rams offense 28-17.

The Los Angeles Chargers made history on Sunday night as the first time team in the NFL (since the 2003 Atlanta Falcons) to lose three straight games in the same season after leading by 17 or more points. As the Chargers were melting down, the Denver Broncos got fired up by a halftime speech from quarterback Drew Lock and scored 28 second-half points (and a game-winning touchdown as time expired) to win 31-30.  In a post-game interview, Lock said, “I just got up in front of the offense and said, ‘Listen, it’s so easy for us to come in here and yell and scream and get mad about what we’re doing bad, but we just need to man up, and when the plays come our way, we need to make them, myself included. I’m not yelling at y’all, I’m obviously talking to myself right now, screaming to myself right now. And that’s exactly what we did.”
