LaMelo To Buy Australian NBL Team, Kobe’s Towel Sells At Auction For Over 33K

BASKETBALL

LaMelo Ball, the 18-year old younger brother of Lonzo Ball, is not only a top prospect in the 2020 NBA draft but also intends to buy the National Basketball League’s Illawarra Hawks. LaMelo played 12 games for the Australian team last season and according to Ball’s manager, Jermaine Jackson, Ball heard the team was struggling financially and wanted to help out. According to Jackson, “When high school kids hear LaMelo owns the team, they will want to come. They’ll know they will be taken care of. We’re going to put the organization on steroids, building it into a program that guys want to play for. I’m in touch with several former NBA GMs that want to go there to help out and high-level coaches that won every championship you can imagine.”

In other basketball news, a towel Kobe Bryant used to drape over his shoulders while making a speech following his final career game sold at auction for $33,077.16.  According to CNN, David Kohler (who has the largest collection of Lakers memorabilia) won the bid.
