Alex Smith Breaks Leg, Roethlisberger Gets Picked And Motivated, Luck On Roll, Farting Controversy

FOOTBALL

The most upsetting part of the NFL weekend was watching Washington Redskin quarterback Alex Smith carted off the field after suffering a devastating injury to his leg.  The Houston Texans Kareem Jackson and J.J. Watt sacked Smith in the third quarter causing Smith to land awkwardly. Smith will undergo immediate surgery on two broken bones and will not be back this season. Former Redskins’ quarterback Joe Theismann was watching the game and had upsetting flashbacks as to when he broke his leg and ended his season exactly 33 years ago to the day. He said,  “And I wouldn’t watch the replay. It felt as if 1985 was yesterday. I had a sick feeling in my stomach and felt so bad for Alex.” Texans 23, Redskins 21.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was picked off three times in Sunday’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the future Hall of Famer found a way to win by targeting Antonio Brown then throwing himself into the end zone to seal the deal. After the game, Roethlisberger spoke of his inspiration. He said,“They had a linebacker … that wanted to let me know every time I threw an interception. He found me and told me how many interceptions I threw. It’s a little motivation, too.” Steelers 20, Jaguars 16.

The Dallas Cowboys pulled out a crucial win over the Atlanta Falcons and are now 5-5 on the season. They have an important game against their division rivals, the Washington Redskins, on Turkey Day. Dallas 22, Atlanta 19.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is on a roll. He now has 7 straight games with three passing touchdowns. He’s trailing only Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in this remarkable stat. Colts 38, Titans 10.

In the oddest story I’ve seen in a while, a Dutch dart player Wesley Harms complained about losing a spot in the Grand Slam of Darts to Scottish player Gary Anderson because Anderson’s farts (yes, farts) were distracting him. He said it would “take him two night to lose this smell from my nose”.
