Red Sox Heading To World Series, Broncos Destroy Cardinals In TNF, Tiebreaker At Wimbledon

BASEBALL

The Boston Red Sox won the American League Pennant after a game 5 win over the Houston Astros and are heading to the World Series for the first time since 2013. Red Sox pitcher David Price, who was having a tough post-season,  came through throwing for six scoreless innings to help lead his team to victory. Boston had the best record in the regular season, so they will enjoy home-field advantage and hosting the first game of the World Series on Tuesday at Fenway Park.

FOOTBALL

The Denver Broncos destroyed the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football 45-10. With a 1-6 record, everyone is now wondering when the Cardinals offensive coordinator, Mike McCoy will be fired.

TENNIS

Wimbledon is known for their traditions but has decided to amend the rules instituting a tie-breaker in the final set if the score is 12-12.  The Chair of the New England Club said,  “While we know the instances of matches extending deep into the final set are rare, we feel that a tie-break at 12-12 strikes an equitable balance between allowing players ample opportunity to complete the match to advantage, while also providing certainty that the match will reach a conclusion in an acceptable timeframe.” While it’s rare to have marathon matches, there have been occasions where matches have gone on for hours (and in one case over days). In 2010, John Isner and Nicholas Mahut played 11 hours over three days with Isner finally winning 70-68.
