Blue Jays Prevail In Winner-Take-All Game Agst Orioles, Fan Throws Beer

BASEBALL

Baltimore Orioles lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in winner-take-all-game Tuesday night in the American League Wild Card game. In Edwin Encarnacion’s three run walk off homer, the Jays ended the Orioles season. The big story of the game is why Orioles coach Buck Showalter didn’t use one of the best closers in the game, Zach Britton. Britton has only allowed one earned run since April, so it’s surprising he wasn’t in the biggest game of the season. The Jays will now matchup on Thursday evening against the Texas Rangers in the American League Division Series.  Blue Jays 5, Orioles 2.

In the bottom of the 7th inning, a Jays’ fan threw a full beer can at the head of Orioles outfielder, Hyun-Soo Kim as he was attempting to catch a fly ball and end the inning. Thankfully, no one was hurt and Kim caught the ball, but in what universe is it ok to throw something at a player during a game?

In other baseball news, the New York Mets match up against the San Francisco Giants in the wild card winner-take-all game tonight, 8:00 pm ET. The winner of the game will take on the Chicago Cubs.
