Raptors Beat Heat Advance To Eastern Finals, Bautista & Odor Fist Fight

NBA

With everything on the line, the Toronto Raptors pulled through, beating the Miami Heat in Game 7 and advancing to the Eastern Conference finals. The victory was thanks in large part to Kyle Lowry, who had 35 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Now the Raptors will take on heavyweight LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Toronto 116, Miami 89.

Bautista & OdorThe Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays became intense rivals last fall when Blue Jay’s Jose Bautista hit a three-run homer and flipped his bat into the air emphatically. The seemingly small incident was not forgotten, and tensions came to a head Sunday during the Blue Jays and Rangers seventh and final match up of the regular season. It started when Rangers pitcher Matt Bush threw a 96mph fast ball straight into Bautista. Shortly thereafter, Bautista hit second baseman Rougned Odor with a late slide into second. That slide resulted in a fistfight, with Odor punching Bautista hard enough to knock his helmet and sunglasses off.

Both players were ejected from the game. When order was finally restored, the very next pitch went straight into a Ranger. Blue Jays reliever Jesse Chavez hit Ranger Prince Fielder with his pitch, throwing the field back into chaos, with both teams leaving their dugouts. This time, no punches were thrown. Chavez and Blue Jays coach DeMarlo Hale were then both ejected from the game.
