NyquistUndefeated favorite Nyquist won the Kentucky Derby. With the win, he’s now 8 for 8 and will try and keep his streak alive with a win in the 2nd leg of the triple crown, the Preakness on May 21st. Nyquist was named in honor of Hockey’s Gustav Nyquist from the Detroit Red Wings

The Cleveland Cavs are heading to the East Finals with a four game sweep of the Atlanta Hawks. With inspiring play from Kevin Love, Lebron James, and Kyrie Irving, the Cavs made this series look easy. Cavs 100, Hawks 99.

Many are criticizing Dwayne Wade when he continued his shootaround during the singing of O Canada prior to the game on Saturday against the Toronto Raptors. Wade said he meant no disrespect but was just finishing his pre-game routine. The NBA rule book states that players must stand with respect during National Anthems. The Heat ended up losing game 3 to the Raptors, 95-91.

In other playoff news, the OKC Thunder tied its series 2-2 against the San Antonio Spurs. With a career tying 41 points from Kevin Durant, the Thunder cruised to a 111-97 win.

Finally, to no one’s surprise ESPN reported the Warriors guard Steph Curry will be named the NBA Most Valuable Player for a second successive season.
