Warriors And Spurs Dominate First Game In 2nd Round Of Playoffs

Round 2 of the playoffs are underway. So far the only teams with a Round 2 victory are the two organizations with the best regular season records in 2016, the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs. The other teams that have advanced to Round 2 are the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Atlanta Hawks, the Miami Heat, and the Toronto Raptors.

The San Antonio Spurs started round 2 with a bang after they demolished the Oklahoma City Thunder Saturday night. The Spurs maintained their lead throughout the entire game, ultimately winning by 32 points. The lopsided nature of the game comes as something of a shock to anyone aware of the immense talent that Oklahoma City has on their roster. Even so, it’s not all celebrations in San Antonio. Veteran Spurs’ Guard Manu Ginobili wants to be careful not to get too complacent. “After a game like that, you are worried. The tendency is to be satisfied, so you get to worry about the next one. Oklahoma City 92, San Antonio 124.

Steph Curry, Klay ThompsonWhen a superstar goes down, the rest of their team shows their true colors, either rising to the occasion, or crumbling under the pressure. The Golden State Warriors have proven time and again that their success is not due to any one person, not even point guard Steph Curry, who’s out with an MCL sprain. Sunday’s game was no exception. Shooting guard Klay Thompson stepped up his game even more, scoring 37 points on Sunday. As for Curry, he thinks there’s “a pretty good chance” he’ll be back by Saturday to play in Game 3 of the second round. Golden State 118, Portland 106
